Daniel Parpart, 61

Daniel C. Parpart, age 61, of Plato passed away Tuesday Sept. 4, 2018 at his home in Plato.

Daniel Charles Parpart was born May 14, 1957 in Watertown, the son of Charles and Leona (Henning) Parpart. June 28, 2002, Daniel was united in marriage to Cheryl Fay.

It has pleased Almighty God to call out of this life, Daniel Charles Parpart.

He was baptized into the Christian faith June 16, 1957, and later confirmed May 16, 1971 at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany.

Dan attended Waconia High School. He served three years in the US Army. Dan enjoyed talking about friends he made and experiences they had while stationed in both Hawaii and Australia.

He was a father to two children in his first marriage.

Dan was on both the Lester Prairie and Plato fire departments, as well as a trustee for St. John’s Lutheran Church in Plato. He was employed by Littfin Lumber, Mammoth Industries, and Hutchinson Co-op.

Dan was the type of guy that once you knew him you built a lasting relationship. He still has close friends from all of his previous places of employment. Dan was very witty and had a fun loving, lighthearted personality. He was talented in so many ways.

In 2002 he married Cheryl. She had three children he loved as his own. On Sundays during football season, you always knew where you could find Dan and were always welcome to join him. Dan loved this time of year. He would call his friends to remind them when the deadline was for applying for a doe permit. Dan would start talking about his annual fishing trip to Devils Lake three months before he left. He was so many things to so many people, loving husband, caring father, lovable Papa, devoted brother, steadfast friend and an amazing mentor.

Daniel was preceded in death by his father and mother Charles and Leona Parpart; sister Shirley Parpart; and brother-in-law Allen Storms.

Daniel is survived by his loving family: wife Cheryl; children Jeremy (Michele) Parpart of Waseca, Stacy (Ken) Petersen of New London, Andy (Jennifer) Templin of Waconia, Elizabeth Templin of Waconia and special friend Grant Schwendemann of Glencoe, Rebecca (Zech) Wood of Arlington; grandchildren Dillon, Deven, Tucker, and Hadley Parpart, Megan Gaulke, Owen, Lauren, and Ivan Petersen, Averie Wood; step-grandchildren Amanda, Rebecca, Kai, and McKenna Pederson; siblings Dianne Weege of Norwood Young America, Dave (Sandy) Parpart of Delano, Denise Storms of Cologne; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Kenneth (Jessica) Wegener of Lester Prairie, Wayne Wegener of New Germany, Doug (Merlina) Wegener of Cable, WI, JoAnn David of Northfield, Sandy (Gary) Stern of Norwood Young America, Laurie Wegener of Cokato, Kim Wegener of Mankato; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service took place Friday, Sept. 7, 2018 at 1 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Plato with Rev. Tyson Mastin officiating; visitation took place from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the church; interment was at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Plato.

Serving as Casket Bearers were Gary Stern, Chad Stern, Chet Stern, Eric Parpart, Michael Weege, Dennis Kruschke, Jim Hlavka, and Jeff Schwartz.
