David Peterman Obituary – 12/23/2018


David Allen Peterman, age 78, of Hollywood Township, rural New Germany, passed away Sunday, Dec. 23, 2018, at his home.

His funeral service will be Saturday, Dec. 29 at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hollywood Township, with interment at the church cemetery.

There will be visitation at the church Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.

Serving as casket bearers are David Peterman, Matthew Peterman, Josh Peterman, Roman Widmer, John Eberle, Tim Baumann, Ben Baumann and Blake Klaustermeier.

David’s grandchildren will be honorary casket bearers.

Arrangements are with the Johnson Funeral Home of Waconia.

David was born Sept. 4, 1940, in Waconia, the son of Edgar and Verna (Klatt) Peterman. He was baptized Sept. 29, 1940 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia, by the Rev. William Schneider; and confirmed April 11, 1954, at the same church by Rev. Heyne.

David was united in marriage to Sharon Stull April 4, 1970, at St. John Lutheran Church in Hollywood Twp., New Germany, by the Rev. L. Vogel.

David farmed in Hollywood Township on farms purchased in 1953, from the Schwartz’s; and in 1975, from his parents. He always loved time spent outdoors, and adventures on his Gator.

David enjoyed hunting for pheasant, duck, and deer. He also enjoyed fishing, trapshooting, and playing golf. He liked to bowl, and play cards, his favorite card games being sheepshead and cribbage. He enjoyed watching westerns and listening to “big band” and polka music, especially Whoopie John.

David was an avid reader of the Bible, the daily paper, and John Grisham novels. He cherished time spent with family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Peterman; parents Edgar and Verna Peterman; and father-in-law and mother-in-law Roy and Shirley Stull.

David is survived by his loving family: children James Peterman, Michelle Klaustermeier, Jon (Robyn) Peterman, and Lynn (Tim) Baumann, all of New Germany; grandchildren Blake (fiancée Maggie), Ben, Alex, Stella, Carter, Nicholas and Jessica; brother Charles (Diane) Peterman of St. Louis, MO; sister-in-law Joy Gerber of Golden Valley; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
