Bernadette ‘Bernie’ Peterson, 64

Bernadette Ann “Bernie” Peterson, age 64, of Darwin, passed away peacefully Sunday, Nov. 25, 2018, in her home with family by her side.

There will be a memorial service Saturday, Dec. 1 at 10 a.m. at the Church of St. John in Darwin.

Visitation will take place Friday, Nov. 30 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral and Cremation Service in Litchfield, with a 7 p.m. prayer service; and will continue Saturday at the church, one hour prior to the service.

Bernadette Ann Peterson, was born Sept. 7, 1954, in Litchfield, the daughter of Leopold Victor and Bette Ann (Sovell) Vlaminck. She was baptized in Darwin in 1954, and confirmed in Litchfield in 1966.

Bernie graduated from Litchfield High School in 1972, and was united in marriage to Lee Peterson Sept. 10, 1977, at the Church of St. Philip in Litchfield.

Bernie was the kitchen manager at the Farmer’s Daughter from 1970 to 1988, and the cook at Wings from 2008 to 2016. She also worked alongside Lee at Peterson’s Furniture Service from 1988 to 2018.

A member of the Church of St. John, Bernie was active in the finance council, and the CCW.

She was on bowling leagues for many years, and enjoyed camping, cooking, gardening, reading, baking, playing cards and cribbage, and spending time with her grandchildren, family, and friends.

Bernie is survived by her husband, Lee Peterson of Darwin; children Leah (Tom) Schroer of Litchfield, and Andrea (Ben) Meyer of Minnetonka; grandchildren Gabriel, Tyler, Adison and Adrianna; and brothers and sisters Linda (Bob) Kmitch of Sartell, Pat Fluck of Atwater, and Jerry Vlaminck.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Bette; granddaughter Lily Howard; and brother Robert “Butch” Vlaminck.
