Rozanne M. Provencher Obituary – 4/15/2018


Rozanne Marie Provencher, age 77, of Hutchinson, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2018, at the Hutchinson Health Hospital in Hutchinson.

She was born April 2, 1941, in Litchfield, the daughter of Reuben and Lavina (Forsberg) Mattson. Rozanne was baptized as an infant, and was later confirmed in her faith, both at Stockholm Lutheran Church, rural Cokato.

She grew up in rural Meeker County, near Dassel, received her elementary education at country school, District 77; and was a graduate of the Dassel-Cokato High School class of 1958.

Rozanne was united in marriage to Bernard Provencher Oct. 15, 1960, in Hutchinson. This marriage was blessed with three children, Pamela, Heidi, and Joe.

In 1965, Rozanne and Bernard moved to their farm home in Hutchinson Township. They shared 46 years of marriage before Bernard passed away May 25, 2007.

Rozanne was a wonderful wife and mother. She also worked outside the home at American Express in Minneapolis, at Green Giant in Glencoe, and in Hutchinson at 3M, Dooley’s Gardens, the Hutchinson Leader as a typesetter, and the United States Postal Service as a rural mail carrier.

Rozanne was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Hutchinson.

She enjoyed being outdoors, and loved spending time riding her horses and tending to her flower gardens. Rozanne also enjoyed embroidery/needlework, and was an avid Minnesota Twins fan. She especially cherished the time she spent with her family and friends.

Rozanne is survived by her children, Pamela Dahlberg of Minnesota, Heidi Froemming and her husband, Keith, and Joe Provencher and his girlfriend, Amy Kirchoff, all of Hutchinson; a sister, Donna Collison of Black Duck; brother, Harold Mattson and his wife, Helen of Dassel; nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, Bernard, Rozanne was preceded in death by her parents, Reuben and Lavina Mattson; sisters Lois Ritter, and Janet Luedtke; son-in-law Gary Dahlberg; brothers-in-law Bruce Collison, Gene Ritter, and Fred Luedke; and sister-in-law Lorraine Mattson

Rozanne’s funeral service took place Thursday, April 19 at 11 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, followed by interment in the St. Anastasia Catholic Cemetery in Hutchinson. The Rev. Dave Wollan officiated at the services. Shirley Holtz was the organist. Soloist Dave Skaar performed “How Great Thou Art.” Congregational hymns were “Amazing Grace” and “What A Friend We Have In Jesus.”

There was visitation Wednesday, April 18 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hutchinson, continuing Thursday at the church, one hour prior to the service.
