Kim Louise Riewer, age 57, of Staples, formerly of Cokato, passed away Saturday, Oct. 27, 2018, surrounded by her family at her home.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place Saturday, Nov. 3 at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Staples, with Father Gabriel Walz officiating.
There will be visitation for family and friends Friday, Nov. 2 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, continuing Saturday, one hour prior to Mass.
Services have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples.
Kim was born March 1, 1961, in Robbinsdale, to Robert and Ruth (Leslie) Nurnberger. She graduated from Staples High School in 1979.
Kim married Gary Otteson Feb. 24, 1979. Gary and Kim had two children; Jolene and Aaron. Gary passed away June 3, 1981.
Kim was united in marriage to John Riewer Sept. 27, 1986, and together they had two children; Malerie and Jordan. John and Kim and the children lived in Cokato; and in 2006, they moved back to Staples.
Kim managed the gift shop at Lakewood Health System. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, traveling, crocheting and sewing.
A “sports mom,” Kim played softball. Family was most important to her, and she loved spending time with them at the cabin in Nevis.
Kim is survived by her husband, John Riewer; daughter, Jolene (Derek) Owen and children, Eli and Ruthie; son, Aaron (Ashley) Otteson and daughter, Camilla; daughter, Malerie (Christopher) Klabo and children, Juliette and Calvin; son Jordan Riewer; parents, Robert and Ruth Nurnberger; and siblings, Robert Allen Nurnberger, Scot Nurnberger and Sherri Nurnberger.
Her first husband, Gary Otteson, preceded her in death.
