Luaine Rolfzen, 75

Luaine Adeline (Schmidt) Rolfzen, age 75, of Lester Prairie, passed away Sunday, June 24, 2018, at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.

She was born March 1, 1943, in Minneapolis, the daughter of Louis John and Adeline August (Schlief) Schmidt. Luaine was baptized as an infant, and was later confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

Following receiving her education in Howard Lake, and graduating from Howard Lake High School, Luaine furthered her education by receiving a licensed practical nursing degree in Willmar.

She was united in marriage to Dennis Rolfzen Oct. 13, 1962, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. The couple made their home in Winsted and Lester Prairie.

Their marriage was blessed with four children; Ann, Julie, Loren and Dale. Luaine and Dennis shared over 55 years of marriage.

In addition to being a loving wife, mother, and homemaker, Luaine was a farm wife, bus driver, nurse, and seamstress. She also owned and operated Thread & Thimble in Lester Prairie.

Luaine was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie. She was also a member of the Lester Prairie American Legion Auxiliary Post #463.

She enjoyed sewing, gardening, camping and traveling; and treasured the time spent with friends and family, especially her grandchildren.

Luaine is survived by her husband, Dennis Rolfzen of Lester Prairie; children: Ann Mallak and her special friend, Paul, of Lester Prairie, Julie Costello and her husband, John, of Rapid City, SD, Loren Rolfzen and his special friend, Mary, of Annandale, and Dale Rolfzen and his wife, Becky, of Winsted; grandchildren, Johnny and Jessica Costello, Kody and Jazmine Rolfzen, Josh Dalbec, Liam, Ivan, Hugo, Holly, Orin, Rachel and Catherine Rolfzen; other relatives; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Adeline Schmidt; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Norbert and Irene Rolfzen; son-in-law, Art Mallak; and granddaughter, Sara Mallak.

Memorial services took place Saturday, June 30 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie, with interment at 1 p.m. at the Winsted City Cemetery in Winsted. The Rev. John Grein officiated at the services, and the organist was Yvonne Schuette. Soloist Chuck Thiel performed “How Great Thou Art,” and “Beautiful Savior.” Congregational hymns were “On Eagle’s Wings” and “Amazing Grace.”

Urn bearers were Kody, Jazmine, Johnny, Jessica, Rachel, Catherine, and Josh.

Sara was an honorary urn bearer.

Arrangements were with the Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel of Lester Prairie.
