Robert Curtis Swanson, age 78, of Minneapolis, formerly of Dassel, lost his battle with cancer Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2018.
He was born Oct. 12, 1940, to Richard W. Swanson and Hildegard (Matson) Swanson.
Robert was raised in Dassel, and graduated from Dassel High School in 1958.
He was baptized at the Dassel Covenant Church.
Robert later moved to Minneapolis, where he lived the remainder of his life. He graduated from the University of Minnesota IT College, and worked for IDS and then Ameriprise Financial.
A sports enthusiast, Robert loved golf, and played as long as his health permitted. He was a big supporter of all the U of MN Gopher sports, and had season tickets for many years.
He was a very giving and generous man.
Robert leaves behind a sister-in-law, Marlene Swanson of Bloomington; and six nephews, Randall Swanson of New Brighton, Brent Swanson of Dassel, Joel Swanson of Rapid City, Rick Swanson of Bloomington, Jay Storm, and Todd Storm, both of Livingston, MT.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother; a brother, Richard W. Swanson Jr; a sister, Maryann (Swanson) Storm; and a brother-in-law, Jerry Storm.
Robert was laid to rest in a private family ceremony at the Dassel Cemetery.
