Robert Jon Wagner, age 55, of Mayer, died peacefully at home Monday, Jan. 22, 2018, after a battle with lung cancer.
A memorial service will take place Saturday, Jan. 27, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Watertown. There will be a gathering of family and friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Arrangements are with the Iten’s Watertown Funeral Home.
Robert was born Jan. 8, 1963, in Alexandria, to Charles and Laura (Fiebranz) Wagner. He was baptized at St John’s Lutheran Church in Garfield, and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Appleton.
Robert graduated from Appleton High School in 1981, and then attended Southwestern Vocational School in Granite Falls, graduating with a degree in tool & die.
He worked as a CNC specialist for Empak and Entegris, before starting his own consulting business and working with Custom Mold and Modern Molding.
Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, waterskiing, and riding his motorcycle. He also enjoyed creating signs on his CNC machine for family and friends, along with his woodworking.
Robert married Deborah Modderman April 28, 1990, in Montevideo. The couple lived in Victoria, before moving to the hobby farm in Mayer where they lived for 25 years.
Robert is survived by his wife of 27 years, Deb; sons Cody (26) of Duluth, and Jesse (25) of Mayer; mother Laura (Fiebranz) Wagner of Alexandria; brothers Steven of Inver Grove Heights, and David of Miltona; in-laws George and Verla (Hoekstra) Modderman of Montevideo, Michael and Pamela Modderman of Montevideo, and Kathryn and James Kloeckner of Fairmont; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Wagner; sister Donna Wagner; niece Megan Wagner; and his grandparents.
