Daisy Binder, 88

Daisy Ardell Binder, age 88, of Winsted, passed away early Monday morning, Jan. 21, 2019. at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted. with all her children by her side.

Daisy graduated from Howard Lake High School, where she was part of the drumline in the marching band.

She married Leonard Lachermeier June 6, 1950. Leonard and Daisy had six children, and farmed in Winsted until 1971.

Daisy was remarried to George Binder March 11, 1977, who she met through the Big Brother program. They were married for 16 years, until George’s death in 1993.

Daisy worked hard over the years at many places, including Ittel’s Meats, Winsted Theatre, Blue Note, Custer’s SuperValu, and Mid-Am. Her last employment was Keaveny Drug Store in Winsted, where she worked part time for over 25 years, and was still working up until her death.

Daisy enjoyed tending to her flowers, reading, eating out, family gatherings, and working.

Annually, more than 60 of Daisy’s children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and their spouses gather for the “Bunches of Daisies” reunion. This fun tradition will continue.

Daisy was blessed and pleased to hear the news of the birth of her first great-great-grandchild, Kaden Leo Sanchez, Thursday, Jan. 10, marking a rare occurrence of five living generations.

Daisy was preceded in death by her parents Oscar and Pearl Lindahl, spouses Leonard Lachermeier and George Binder, sisters Mildred “Ruth” Riewe and Julia Westerlund, brother Victor “Mike” Lindahl, 12 brothers-in-law, and eight sisters-in-law.

She is survived by her loving children and their spouses: Sharon Lachermeier and Bill Norman, Sandy and Dale Mattson, Sue and Joe Helmbrecht, Cindy and Mike Zitzloff, Cherie and Paul Greenhagen, and David and Rose Lachermeier; 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; step children: Sheila Weber, Terry (Jeanie) Binder, Randy Binder, and Mark (Karla) Binder; brother- and sister-in-law: Eldon “Bud” and Bernita Lindahl, sisters-in-law: Delores Lindahl, Sally Lachermeier, Elmerine Lachermeier, and Alice Lachermeier; and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Daisy Binder took place Thursday, Jan. 24, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. Father Michael Doyle was the Celebrant. Lavon Kielkucki was the organist for the Mass.

Lunch followed the Mass, and interment followed at Howard Lake Cemetery.

A visitation took place Thursday, Jan. 24 at the church from 9 a.m. to time of Mass.

Casket bearers were Dana Mattson, Jason Helmbrecht, Nick Helmbrecht, Cory Zitzloff, Alan Lorentz, and Tyler Greenhagen.
