Charles “Charlie” Emery, age 86, of Loretto, passed away Friday, Feb. 22, 2019, at the JA Wedum Hospice Residence in Brooklyn Park.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will take place Saturday, March 2 at 11 a.m. at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Loretto. There will be a gathering of family and friends from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, prior to the Mass.
Arrangements are with the Iten Funeral Home in Delano.
Charlie was born Oct. 2, 1932, in Wetonka, SD, to George Dewey and Vivian (Iverson) Emery.
A loving husband, dad, and grandpa, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and spent many weekends camping and fishing when his children were young. He also enjoyed deer hunting for many years.
Charlie was a member of a bowling league for over 50 years, and later in life, he took up golfing and enjoyed time on the golf course with his daughter, Trish and friends.
Charlie served in the US Army and was honorably discharged.
He was a member of the Loretto Lions and Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents; brothers James, Dale, and John; sister Betty Arial; and brothers-in-law Gene Arial, and Jim Robbins.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lillian (Thibodeau); children Vickie Berry, Rick (Leann Scotting), Patricia (Dan) Bock, and Ron; three grandchildren: Christine (Sam) Piekarski, Jacob (Melissa) Berry, and John Berry; one great-granddaughter Eleanor Berry; sister Margaret Robbins; and sisters-in-law Lorraine Emery and Barb Emery.
