Martha Gausman passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2019, at Cokato Manor, at the age of 92.
Martha Bertha Gausman was born March 6, 1927 near Frazee, to Edward and Frieda (Fisher) Mischke.
She attended beautician school in Mason City, IA, and later had beauty shops in Jeffers, and above the old State Bank building in Cokato.
Martha married Kenneth Gausman July 11, 1953 in Detroit Lakes. They lived in Oak Knoll, Navarre, Maple Plain, and, since 1968, Cokato.
She had beauty shops in her homes for many years, and later worked at Airtex in Cokato, where she made many friends.
Martha’s hobbies included quilt-making, garage sales, collecting glassware, cooking, and baking, especially chocolate chip cookies.
Martha is survived by her son Russell Gausman of Cokato, daughters Mary (Mike) Schmidt of Nelson, Sharon (Manford) Peterson of Litchfield, four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and many nephews, nieces, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth, parents, four sisters, one brother, and two nieces.
A memorial service took place Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at 11 a.m., at Swanson Peterson Funeral Home in Howard Lake. There was visitation for one hour prior to the service. Internment was at Sylvan Cemetery in Middleville Township.
