Patricia Susan (Arkulary) Goodell, age 79, of Lester Prairie, passed away Monday, Dec. 30, 2019, at Glencoe Regional Health Services in Glencoe.
She was born Sept. 4, 1940, in Viroqua, WI, the daughter of John and Francis (Selbach) Arkulary. Patricia was baptized as an infant, and confirmed in her faith as a youth at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Viroqua, WI.
She received her education in Duluth, graduating from Stanbrook School with the class of 1958.
Patricia was united in marriage to Wayne Goodell Oct. 15, 1960. Patricia and Wayne made their home in Duluth, and Lester Prairie. Their life was blessed with five children, Susan, Laura, Michael, Tricia, and Wayne “Tim;” and they shared over 59 years of marriage.
In addition to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker, Patricia was a piano instructor, and sold Mary Kay cosmetics, and real estate.
She enjoyed bowling, crafts, knitting, sewing, gardening, and crossword and Sudoku puzzles. She loved to visit, and cherished the time spent with her family and friends.
Patricia is survived by her husband, Wayne Goodell of Lester Prairie; daughters Susan Ostlund and her partner, Bob Eckstrom, of Minneapolis; Laura Bickel and her husband, Steve, of Westminster, CO; and Tricia Pettey of Lester Prairie; son Michael Goodell and his wife, Sandy, of Blaine; grandchildren Steve, Erin (Luke), Ben (Sam), Sawyer, Joe (Lexie), Caleb (Gabrielle), Jessica (Theo), Nathan (Miaja), and Emali; and great-grandchildren Aria, Ava, Stone, and Josie.
She is further survived by a sister, Elizabeth Wilhelmson and her husband, Mark; brothers Larry Arkulary, James Arkulary, Michael Arkulary, and Stephen Arkulary and his wife, Mitzi; aunt, uncle, many nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, John and Francis Arkulary; a son, Wayne ‘Tim” Goodell; sisters, Ann, and Mary; and a brother, John.
A memorial service took place Thursday, Jan. 2 at 11 a.m. at the Johnson- McBride Funeral Chapel in Glencoe, with Father Anthony Stubeda officiating. Special music was “Ave Maria” and “Amazing Grace.”
