Doris Mae (nee Paumen) Vieau Guggemos, age 87, of Buffalo, passed away peacefully Friday, Nov. 22, 2019, with family at her side, at Park View Care Center in Buffalo.
She was born April 29, 1932, the fifth of eight children on the Maple Lake farm of parents Jacob and Minnie (Wurm) Paumen.
She was a cheerleader, and graduated from Maple Lake High School in 1949.
Doris worked a wide variety of clerical jobs throughout her life, including at Red Owl, Control Data, and finally 30 years as a ward secretary at Buffalo Hospital.
Steadfast in her Catholic faith, Doris was a faithful member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Buffalo, a longtime volunteer at The Christ the King Retreat Center in Buffalo, and an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 270.
She is survived by her loving children: Doug (Jamie) Vieau of Buffalo, Dave (Stephanie) Vieau of Chanhassen, Joe (Bodhi Kannon) Vieau of Coon Rapids, and Amy (Mark) Strommen of Buffalo; eight grandchildren: Andrew (Angela Weldon) Vieau, Katie (Mike) Gutierrez, Taylor (Jake) Zehren, Jake Vieau, Jenna (Ryan) Stanley, Jill Vieau, Sophia Strommen and Emily Strommen; and five great-grandchildren.
Doris is further survived by brothers and a sister: Lester (Darlene) Paumen, Orville (Rita) Paumen and Beatrice (Doug) Psyk; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by husbands Donald Vieau (1963); and Kenneth Guggemos (2005); a newborn son; her parents; two brothers, Clayton and Clifford Paumen; and a sister, Margaret Rathje.
Mass of Christian Burial took place Monday, Dec. 2 at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Buffalo, visitation beginning at 9 a.m. at the church, prior to the Mass. Fr. Nathaniel Meyers was the celebrant. Interment was at St. Timothy Cemetery in Maple Lake.
Casket bearers were Andrew Vieau, Jill Vieau, Jake Zehren, Jake Vieau, Mike Gutierrez, and Ryan Stanley.
