LeAnn Linette Kroells, age 68, of Hamburg, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2019, surrounded by family, at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
She was born Sept. 20, 1950, in Glencoe, the daughter of Albert and Clara (Herrmann) Ische. LeAnn was baptized as an infant Oct. 15, 1950, and confirmed in her faith as a youth March 22, 1964, both at Church of Peace in Norwood Young America.
LeAnn grew up on a farm outside of Young America. She received her education in Norwood Young America, graduating with the Central High School class of 1968.
LeAnn was united in marriage to Richard “Dick” Kroells Feb. 6, 1971, at Church of Peace in Norwood Young America. This marriage was blessed with three children; Amy, Erin and Joel.
LeAnn and Dick made their home on the family farm in Hamburg, and shared 48 years of marriage.
In addition to being a loving mother and homemaker, LeAnn worked alongside her husband on their farm. She had a knack for raising calves, and especially enjoyed vegetable gardening.
She also worked 18 years for the US Postal Service, with the majority of time spent at Lester Prairie.
LeAnn was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Reformed Church in Hamburg, and enjoyed volunteering her time.
She also enjoyed fishing, traveling, walking, biking, gardening, canning, sewing, and knitting. LeAnn loved to travel, especially trips with her sister, Linda. She cherished her time spent with her grandchildren, family and friends.
LeAnn is survived by her husband, Richard “Dick” Kroells of Hamburg; children, Amy Nelson and her husband, Randy, of Chaska, Erin Valenta of Waconia, and Joel Kroells of Norwood Young America; grandchildren Sydney, Ava, Taylor, McKenzie, Alex, Paige, and Nick; a sister, Linda Neumann and her husband, Will, of Norwood Young America; sister-in-law Marion Ische of Glencoe; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Clara Ische; brothers Harlan and Eugene; sister-in-law Shirley Ische; and nephew Randy Ische.
LeAnn’s funeral service took place Monday, April 22 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Evangelical Reformed Church in Hamburg, followed by interment in the church cemetery. The Rev. Dan Schnabel officiated at the service. Sandy Kroells was the pianist. Congregational hymns were “Rock of Ages,” “What A Friend We Have In Jesus,” and “In the Garden.”
Casket bearers were Mark Ische, Tom Ische, Jason Neumann, Kelly Wouters, Peter Kroells, and Joel Kroells.
