Sharon A. Kuntz, 76

Sharon Ann (Zellmann) Kuntz, age 76, of Lester Prairie, wife of Rodney Kuntz, passed away Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019.

There will be a gathering of family and friends Saturday, Nov. 23 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie, followed by a memorial service at 11:30 a.m. The Rev. Eric Nelson will officiate, and the organist will be Jane Holasek. Congregational hymns will include “The Old Rugged Cross,” “Amazing Grace,” “Rock Of Ages,” and “How Great Thou Art.”

Honorary urn bearers will be Sarah Olson, Holly Bjornstad, Taylor Williams, and Alex Williams.

Sharon was born Jan. 24, 1943, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Byron and Alice (Tonn) Zellmann. She was baptized Feb. 14, 1943, by Pastor Vomhof at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie, and confirmed in her faith April 14, 1957, by the same.

Sharon received her education in Lester Prairie, graduating with the Lester Prairie High School class of 1961.

Sharon was united in marriage to Rodney Kuntz Sept. 8, 1962, at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie. Sharon and Rodney made their home in New Germany and Lester Prairie. They were blessed with two daughters, Deborah and Patricia. Sharon and Rodney shared over 57 years of marriage.

In addition to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker, Sharon worked at Red Owl, Tonka Toys, Security Bank & Trust, Schwartz Manufacturing, Prairie Market, Porthole, Young America Corporation, and Sam’s Club.

She was an active member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie. As her ministry to the church, she proudly taught Sunday school and sang in the church choir.

Sharon was a very happy person, and enjoyed cooking, embroidering, reading, shopping, and playing 500 for over 50 years with her card club. She was also a member of TOPS for many years. She was a great cook, but was especially famous for her caramel Rice Krispies bars. She loved to visit, and cherished the time spent with her family and friends.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Rodney Kuntz of Lester Prairie; daughters Deborah Michaelis and her husband, Rory, of St. Cloud, and Patricia Williams and her husband, Steve, of Delano; grandchildren Sarah Olson and her husband, Rob, of Maple Grove, Holly Bjornstad and her husband, Derek, of Sartell, Taylor Williams and his wife, Hanna, of St. Louis Park, and Alex Williams and his special friend, Emily Delaney, of Golden Valley; and great-grandchildren Britton Olson, Sutton Olson, and Jensen Bjornstad;

She is also survived by her sisters, Sandra Anderson, Kathryn Young and her husband, Bruce, all of Lester Prairie, Pamela Munsch and her husband, Doug, of New Auburn, and Mary Fillbrandt and her husband, Bruce, of Mayer; sisters-in-law Judy Unglaub and her husband, Ron, and Diane Zellmann, all of Lester Prairie, MN, and Phyllis Stender and her husband, Larry, of Hutchinson; aunt, uncle, many nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Byron and Alice Zellmann; brothers Kendall Zellmann, and Daryl Zellmann; and a sister in infancy.
