Beatrice C. Main Obituary – 5/25/2019


Beatrice C. Main, age 103, of Howard Lake, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2019, at the Howard Lake Good Samaritan Center.

A memorial service will take place Monday, June 3 at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Howard Lake, with interment at Howard Lake Cemetery.

There will be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.

Beatrice was born July 3, 1915, to Harry and Ethel (Swanson) Anderson, the oldest of four children (one sister, Norma, and two brothers, Leonard and Dale).

She was baptized as an infant and confirmed as a youth at Mount Herman Lutheran Church in Albion Township.

Beatrice graduated from Howard Lake High School in 1933.

She was united in marriage to George Main June 1, 1934, at Mount Herman Lutheran Church in Albion Township by Pastor Alex Sand. The couple made their home in Howard Lake. To this union, four children were born.

Beatrice worked on the production line at Tonka Toys for 25 years, before retiring in 1979.

She was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Howard Lake, where she served on the Altar Guild and the Do-Day Quilters.

In her final years at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Howard Lake, she enjoyed reading and doing word puzzles

Beatrice was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother.

She is survived by her four children: Janice Pettit, Gene (Glee) Main, Gerald (Connie) Main, and Thomas Main; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Beatrice was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Ethel; husband George; sister Norma; brothers Leonard and Dale Anderson; son-in-law Paul Pettit; and grandson Gregory Pettit.
