Clement L. Matter, “Clem,” age 89, of Delano, passed away Thursday, Dec. 12, 2019.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place Friday, Dec. 20 at 11 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church in Delano, followed by military honors in Calvary Cemetery in Delano.
There was visitation Thursday, Dec. 19 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Iten Funeral Home in Delano, with a 3:30 p.m. rosary service. Visitation will continue Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. in Martha’s Hall of St. Peter Catholic Church, prior to the Mass.
Clement was born Oct. 31, 1930, in Franklin Township, to Joseph A. and Clara (Kelsey) Matter.
He graduated from Delano High School in 1949.
Clem enlisted in the US Navy in October 1950, and served during the Korean Conflict, being honorably discharged in July 1954.
He was united in marriage to Jean M. Doyle Jan. 28, 1956, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in North Platte, NE. This union was blessed with six children.
Clem was preceded in death by his wife, Jean; son Joseph; daughter Theresa Ludwig; parents; and siblings.
He is survived by hischildren: Matthew (Jean) Matter, Margaret “Peggy” (Curtis) Houghton, Lori Matter and fiancé Mark Ehlers, and Timothy (Amy) Matter; grandchildren Andrea (Sulaiman) Matter-Shaikh, Joshua (Jen) Matter, Amanda Matter, Michael Wanha, Krista (Jaime) Kinney, Cory Ludwig, Jerome (Lori) Ludwig, Lisa Rassat, Barb Horsch, Mary Ludwig, Julie (Shawn) Woods, Joe (Natasha) Ludwig, Gabriel Hance and Elijah Hance; great-grandchildren Reilly Matter, Tylor Matter, and Alexander Kinney, Alyssa Kinney, Addison Kinney, and Austin Kinney; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
