Gary L. Probst, age 72, of Waverly, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Aug. 1, 2019.
A memorial service will take place Friday, Aug. 9 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montrose.
There will be a gathering of family and friends Thursday, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the church, continuing Friday from 10 to 11 a.m., prior to the service; and continuing Friday, from 10 to 11 a.m., prior to the service, all at the church.
Arrangements are with the Iten Funeral Home in Delano.
Gary was born Nov. 13, 1946, in Watertown, to George and Elaine (Matter) Probst.
He was united in marriage to Mary Plamann Jan. 2, 1965.
Gary enjoyed being outdoors hunting, fishing, and camping; and spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend to many.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents; brother Kenneth Probst; and father-in-law Raymond Plamann.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary; children Barb (Kevin) Zupan, Richard (fiancée Michelle) Probst, and Robert (Jamie) Probst; grandchildren Richard, Kayla, Alexis, Sophia, Braden, Zach and Sarah; and great-granddaughter Willow.
He is further survived by siblings Judi Salonek, Craig (Mary) Probst and Tom (Vicki) Probst; mother-in-law Lee Plamann; sister-in-law Tina (Harold) Osterbauer; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
