David was born Oct. 12, 1952, in Watertown Township, the son of Leo and Vera (Lange) Roy. He was baptized Oct. 26, 1952, at home, by the Rev. Lenz; and confirmed his faith at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Delano, also by the Rev. Lenz.
David was united in marriage to LaDonna Seegert July 26, 1975, at St Peter’s Lutheran Church in Watertown by the Rev. Reiner.
As a teenager, David liked to hang out with his friends, which usually meant they would get into some sort of trouble. He was the number-one fan of Butch Automatic, and he rarely, if ever, missed going to a Butch Automatic dance. David was always there to make sure they were all where they needed to be, and even made it to a couple of dances last summer.
David enjoyed snowmobiling, riding his Harley and raising money for charities, camping with his family, helping others with carpentry projects, and deer hunting at U-Pick camp in Effie, MN with family and friends. David also attended many local tractor pulls, and also tractor pulls in Tomah, WI a couple of times.
David helped out with the local car show during Rails to Trails in Watertown for the past eight years, with his family. If you ask David’s family what defines him the most, it is that he was always there to lend a helping hand, or lend someone some tools.
Many people remember David for being particular. He liked to do things his way, and that was usually the right way.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Vera Roy; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Wally and Lois Seegert; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Rachel (Brad) Frantsen, Lee McClure, and Henrietta Chapman.
He is survived by his loving family; wife LaDonna “Pudgy” Roy; children Darwin (Sharon) Roy, Cristina Oestreich and special friend Nicolas Cruz, Kelly (Jim) Thaemert, Becky (Jim) Burns, and Brian (Emily) Roy, all of Watertown; grandchildren: Nathan Roy, Bradlee Oestreich, Kallee Oestreich, Michael Burns and fiancee Brianna Opdahl, Wesley Burns, Mitchell Burns, Logan Roy, and Morgan Roy; great-grandson Denzel Oestreich; and grand dog, Demsey.
