Gary Martin Schauer, age 70, of Winsted, passed away Monday, Sept. 9, 2019.
His funeral service will be Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Winsted, with interment at the Winsted Public Cemetery. The Rev. Dave Hormann will officiate at the service. Kay Knutson will be the organist, and Bruce Gatz will be the vocalist.
There will be visitation at the church Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.

Gary was born June 18, 1949, in Watertown, the son of Martin J. & Viola L. (Gatz) Schauer. He was baptized July 10, 1949, by the Rev. A.F. Vomhof; instructed in the Lutheran Catechism; and confirmed in the Christian faith June 2, 1963 by the Rev. E. F. Schroeder at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winsted.
Gary graduated from Howard Lake High School in 1967.
He formerly worked at Sterner Lighting for 24 years.
He was a lifelong, faithful member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winsted.
He also served as the treasurer for The Winsted Sportsman’s Club for 40 years.
In his early years, Gary enjoyed fishing, camping, and trap shooting. Following retirement, he became interested in street rods.
Along with his brother, Ronnie, Gary was the grand marshal for the Winsted Summer Festival.
He is survived by his loving brother, Ronnie J. Schauer of Winsted; several cousins; and other relatives and friends.
Gary was preceded in death by his father, Martin Schauer, in 2002; and by his mother, Viola Schauer, in 2013.
