James “Jim” William Spille, age 76, of Norwood Young America, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2019, at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.
There will be a memorial service Monday, April 29 at 11 a.m. at All Saints Lutheran Church in Norwood Young America, with the Revs. Eric Aune and Al Fiene officiating. Jane Fasching will be the organist. Special music will be “Hallelujah.” “Amazing Grace” will be a congregational hymn. Matt Wagner, and Josh Wagner will be urn bearers.

James was born Dec. 10, 1942, in Red Wing, the son of Robert and Arloine (Marti) Spille. He was baptized as an infant, and confirmed in his faith as a youth at United Lutheran Church in Red Wing.
Jim received his education in Red Wing, and was a graduate of the Red Wing High School class of 1960. He furthered his education at the University of North Dakota, and University of Minnesota in Mankato, earning a bachelor of science degree in education.
Jim was united in marriage to Mary Kay Zweibohmer July 7, 1973, by the Justice of the Peace in Willmar. After their marriage, the couple resided in Cosmos and Norwood Young America.
James was employed as a teacher in Wasco, CA; Cosmos, and Norwood Young America, retiring in 2003.
Jim and Mary were blessed with five children, and shared 45 years of marriage.
Jim was a member of the Norwood Young America Lions Club. After retirement, he served on the District 108 School Board.
He enjoyed reading, trivia, going to plays at the Guthrie, and family gatherings. As many would say, there was “only one Jim” a unique personality, able to befriend, listen to, and chat with anyone he met. Jim cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his children and grandchildren.
Jim became a resident of St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted in 2017.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Spille, of Norwood Young America; children: Katie Spille of Chaska, Loree Diaz and her husband, Michael, of Bakersfield, CA, Traci Rueda of Bakersfield, CA, Carey Wagner and her husband, Matt, of Wasco, CA, and James Spille of Carmel, IN; and grandchildren Susan Dunlap, Josh Wagner, Devin Spille, and Desirae Spille.
Jim is further survived by siblings, Robert Spille and his wife, Beverly, of Casa Grande, AZ, Thomas Spille of St. Paul, and Jane Hartson and her husband, Jim, of Waltham, MN; mother-in-law, Loretta Zweibohmer of Norwood Young America; sister-in-law Jean Brodie and her husband, Mark, of Golden, CO; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Arloine Spille; son-in-law Pete Rueda; and granddaughter April Dunlap.
