Clarence Matthew Trottier, age 77, of Dassel, died Monday, Nov. 4, 2019, at the Augustana Lakeside Health Care Center in Dassel.
A private family service will take place at the Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel, which is handling the arrangements.
Clarence was born Dec. 26, 1941, in Belcourt, ND, the son of James and Agnes (Wilkie) Trottier. He grew up in the Belcourt and Grand Forks areas, and was baptized and later confirmed in the Catholic faith.
Clarence attended school in Flandreau, SD.
He served in the United States Marine Corps.
In 1971, Clarence was united in marriage to Donna Schwartz in Seattle, WA. The couple made their home in Seattle, WA, Grand Forks, ND, and Minneapolis.
Clarence worked as a welder for several different companies.
He loved music, and was a talented guitar player and singer. Clarence’s musical talent led him to join several bands and travel to many destinations in the United States to play and sing.
He loved his family with his whole heart.
Clarence is survived by his children, Yvette (Patrick) Schlopko, Leah Elaine Trottier, and Paul James Trottier; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and siblings Esther Frovarp, Mable Cook, Martha Trottier, Annabelle Trottier Vieths, Russell Trottier, and Ernest Timmy Trottier.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Agnes Trottier, two brothers, Franklin John Trottier, and Patrick James Trottier; and a sister, Mary Elaine Trottier LaFountaine.
