Anna Mary Westrup, 103

Anna Mary Westrup, age 103, of Winsted, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2019, at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Tuesday, July 30 at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. There will be visitation at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Father Tony Stubeda will be the celebrant, and Alice Nowak will be the organist for the Mass. Interment will follow at Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery in Winsted.

Casket bearers will be Brent and Bruce Machtemes, Greg and Brandon Nelson, and Neal and Mathew Westrup.

Anna was born May 15, 1916, in Winsted, the daughter of Arthur and Magdelena “Lena” (Gill) Remer.

She was a lifelong, faithful member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted.

Anna and Leonard Westrup were joined in holy marriage June 19, 1933. God blessed their marriage with eight children.

Anna was formerly employed at Tonka Toys in Mound for over 26 years, retiring in 1981.

She enjoyed ballroom dancing, playing cards, gardening fishing, family outings, traveling, and playing games. Bingo was her game of choice.

Anna is survived by her loving children: Helen Ekberg, Mona (John) Fillar, Leona (Greg) Irmiter, David Westrup, and Kathleen (Louis) Quast; a daughter-in-law, Karen Westrup; a son-in-law, Roy Nelson; 21 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and six great, great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard; sons Linus, and Kenneth Westrup; daughter Mary Ann Nelson; and grandchildren Jared Westrup, Nathan “Nate” Westrup and Leah Westrup.
