Beverly Aslakson, age 84, of Delano, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2020.
She was born in Starbuck, to Palvin and Mabel Evjen. She graduated from Starbuck High School in 1953.
Beverly married Henry Aslakson at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Starbuck, in 1955. They moved to a farm in Delano in 1968, where they raised three children. Beverly was very active on the farm. She plowed fields, baled hay, delivered farm animals, and everything else that came with working on a farm.
Beverly encouraged her childrens’ involvement in showing dogs, pigs, cows, and horses. When it came time for the county fair, she had everyone loaded in the truck with all the animals and our indoor gardening projects.
You could never tell Beverly she couldn’t do something, she would prove you wrong every time. She was small, but determined, confident and strong.
In the year 2000, Beverly and Henry built their dream house overlooking the Crow River. There she enjoyed planting hostas and flower gardens that all would envy. She hosted parties in her gardens, and they gave her much joy and happiness.
Beverly is survived by daughter Desiree vanSytzama; seven grandchildren, Siressa (Justin) Sremba, Derek (Maggie) Aslakson, Ashley (Andy) Brown, Chelsea (Dan) Vargo, Garrett Freese, Austin vanSytzama, and Carson vanSytzama; seven great-grandchildren, Ryder Sremba, Hudson Sremba, Henry Aslakson, Pearle Aslakson, Emerson Brown, Rylan Brown, and Ella Brown; sister Beatrice Tonn, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Aslakson; son, Blaine Aslakson; daughter, Tamara Freese; her parents; sisters, Avis Baukol and Phyllis Berg.
Remembrance services will be held at a later time.
