Ronald ‘Bud’ Bersie, 90

Update:

Ronald V. Bersie, age 90, of rural Waverly, passed away Sunday, April 12, 2020, at his residence.

A visitation will be held Saturday, May 30 at the church from 9 to 11 a.m. (Limit 10 people at a time).

Due to COVID-19, a private family funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 30, at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Montrose. Pastor James Grabitske will officiate.

Interment will follow at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Montrose.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church-Montrose, MN.

Casket bearers will be Ken Ashfeld, Brad Hewitt, Greg Bersie, Mark Bersie, Matt Hewitt, and Alex Bersie.

Ronald was born May 11, 1929, in Halloway, MN. He was baptized June 2, 1929. Ronald was confirmed June 20, 1943, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Crawford Lake, MN.

Ron spent his lifetime committed to dairy farming, caring for his cows and land.

He served in the Korean War, stationed in Korea and Japan.

Ron was preceded into death by his parents, Ovie Bersie and Irene (Adickes) Bersie; and brother Gordan Bersie.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Beverly (Tessmer) Bersie; children Barbara and Ken Ashfeld, Bruce and Shelley Bersie, Susan and Brad Hewitt, and Brad and Marlugen (Jane) Bersie; seven grandchildren: Alex and Jennifer Bersie, Matthew and Melissa Hewitt, Rachel, Stephanie and Tia Bersie; siblings Betty Quast, Marilyn and Jim Lund, and Bob Bersie; sister-in-law Jennalee Bersie; and many other friends and relatives.
