Ronald Doboszenski Obituary – 9/24/2020


Ronald “Ron” Doboszenski, age 78, of Loretto, passed away Thursday, Sept. 24, 2020, peacefully at home, with his family surrounding him. He was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend to many.

Ron was the third-youngest child of Vincent and Rose (Marx) Doboszenski. He grew up on a farm just outside of Loretto. Ron attended Ss. Peter and Paul School through the eighth grade.

Ron served in the Army for two years during the Vietnam War as a mechanic on a tank retriever. He was honorably discharged in February 1966. Later that year, he was united in marriage to Marlis Werbowski. They had three children, Jason, Shellee, and Jana.

Ron worked as a welder for R&W Welding in Osseo for 40-plus years. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix. Local farmers and neighbors always knew they could count on him to get them fixed up and on their way again.

He loved fishing, hunting, and playing cards. Most of all, he loved spending time with family and was most proud of his grandchildren.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Rose Doboszenski; parents-in-law, John and Louise Werbowski; sister, Delrose Kilthau; brothers-in-law, Leonard Schlosser, Richard Peterson; and sisters-in-law, Arlene Doboszenski, Phyllis Doboszenski, and Susan Werbowski.

Ron is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marlis; children, Jason (Mary) Doboszenski, Shellee Desens, Jana (Leo) Syverson; grandchildren, Sam Doboszenski, Ellie Doboszenski, MaKayla Desens, Dakotah Syverson, Deven Syverson; siblings, Bernice Schlosser, Kathleen Peterson, Leander (Lucy) Doboszenski, Gerald (Eldoris) Doboszenski, James Doboszenski, Kenneth Doboszenski, Marvin (Marlene) Doboszenski, Anthony (Margaret) Doboszenski, Richard Doboszenski; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dennis Werbowski, Duane (Connie) Werbowski, Dave (Christina) Werbowski, and Mary Lee (Tom) Underhill; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A Mass of Christian burial took place at 11 a.m. Sept. 28, at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Loretto, MN. Visitation took place Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the family residence. Visitation also took place Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church prior to Mass. Interment with military honors was in the church cemetery.

The Doboszenski family would like to give a very special thank you to all the staff at Ridgeview Hospital in Waconia and Ridgeview Hospice for all the wonderful care given to Ron throughout his journey.

Arrangements are by the Iten Funeral Home in Delano, MN.
