Nancy Jo Erickson, age 81, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2020, following a diagnosis of lymphatic cancer.
She was born June 15, 1939, in Superior, WI to Roland and Elsie Peterson (Klang).
Nancy graduated from Central High School in Superior in 1957, and attended University of Wisconsin-Superior.
She made a career in the medical field, first as an x-ray lab technician, then as a medical transcriptionist.
Nancy married James Erickson in 1959, and moved to Cokato, MN, where she worked at the hospital, then at the Dassel clinic.
Divorcing in 1986, she moved to the Twin Cities and worked at Methodist Hospital and Twin Cities Orthopedics, before retiring in 2008.
Fiercely independent, she would often answer her door with a hammer in her hand and a nail in her mouth. She loved to garden, antiquing with friends (looking in June for that perfect Christmas gift), researching family history, and doting over her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Laurie Erickson; son, Michael Erickson (Julie); grandchildren, Lucas Wangen, and Kendall Erickson; former husband, James Erickson; sister, Ellen Rivord of Menasha, WI, and brother, Donald Peterson of Hugo, MN; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She will be greatly missed.
A private memorial will take place next spring. Anyone wishing to share a memory or story, please send to PetersonErickson2020@gmail.com.
