Flora Hendrickson Obituary – 10/7/2020


Flora Evelyn Hendrickson, age 84, of Kingston, died at her home Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2020, after living her final years with dementia.

A funeral service will take place Saturday, Oct. 24 at 2 p.m., at The Old Apostolic Lutheran Church of Kingston, with interment following at Swan Lake Cemetery.

A visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church of Kingston.

The Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel is in charge of the funeral arrangements.

Flora Evelyn (Sarkinen), the daughter of Olaf and Aune (Hervi) Sarkinen, was born Nov. 2, 1935, in Gackle, ND. Flora grew up in the Gackle area, where she attained her education.

Flora resided in Gackle until 1961, when she moved to Vancouver, WA, where she made her home until 1967.

Flora was united in marriage to David V. Hendrickson, of Kingston, May 28, 1967, in Gackle. Together they made their home in the Kingston area, where they raised their family on a farm.

Flora was devoted to her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was diligent to serve her family and friends with a Christian example.

Flora was a lifelong member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her husband, David Hendrickson of Kimball; Mark (Renee) Hendrickson of Kimball; Sam (Kara) Hendrickson of Dassel; Mary (Steve) Pekkala of Dassel; Brian (Gwendolyn) Hendrickson of Kimball; and daughter-in-law, Rosalie Hendrickson (Andy) Massie of Dassel; 28 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; siblings, Verda Homola of Brush Prairie, WA; Ed (Elaine) Sarkinen of Battle Ground, WA; Junette (Paul) Tapani of Battle Ground, WA; Roger (Marianne) Sarkinen of Battle Ground, WA; Stanley (Lynda) Sarkinen of Woodland, WA; sisters-in-law, Emily Sarkinen of Battle Ground, WA; and Patricia Sarkinen of Brush Prairie, WA.

Flora was preceded in death by her son, Matthew; parents, Olaf and Aune Sarkinen; two brothers, Chester Sarkinen and Robert Sarkinen; and one sister, Joanne Sarkinen.
