Mary Rose Johnson, age 65, a longtime resident of Delano, passed away Saturday, Jan. 11, 2020.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place Saturday, Jan. 18 at 11 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church in Delano, followed by interment in Calvary Cemetery in Delano.
There will be visitation Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. in Martha’s Hall of St. Peter Catholic Church, with an 8 p.m. rosary service. Visitation will continue Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. in Martha’s Hall, prior to the Mass.
Arrangements are with the Iten Funeral Home of Delano.
Mary was born Aug. 3, 1954, in Buffalo, one of 10 children born to Charlie and Joan (Scanlan) Otto.
She was a life-long and active member of St. Peter’s Church in Delano.
Mary was the chief operations officer for her family’s over-the-road trucking company, Otto Transfer, where she worked for over 40 years.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charlie Otto; and father- and mother-in-law, Bob and LaVerne Johnson.
Mary is survived by her husband of 42 years, Darrell Johnson, who was charmed by her big smile from the beginning. They have five children: Sarah Anderson (Eric), Bob Johnson (Nichole), Michael Johnson (Laura), Jeff DeMars (Robyn), and Patrick Johnson (Jenna).
Mary is also survived by her nine beloved grandchildren, Oscar, Emma, Ben, Will, Charlotte, Mabel, Mason, Autumn and Paige; siblings and spouses Sue DeMars (Neal), Frank Otto, Janet Otto, Colleen Johnson (Erik), Jean Baumann (Ron), Stephen Otto (Dawn), Phillip Otto (Donna), Mark Otto (Denise), Kevin Otto (Liz) and Linda Osborne (Stacy); and siblings-in-law Karen Russek (Jim), Dale Johnson (Sue), Don Johnson (Colleen) and Dick Johnson (Roxanne). Mary’s 35 nieces and nephews, and 40 great nieces and nephews gave her so much joy.
