Ralph David Koglin, age 75, of La Crosse, WI, formerly of Cokato, transitioned peacefully to his eternal home with his Lord Thursday, Feb. 6, 2020.
He was born June 8, 1944, Cokato, to Reynold and Vera Randall Koglin, the youngest of two children.
After graduating from Cokato High School, Ralph attended Bethel College, and St. Paul Bible College.
He served in the United States Air Force from 1966 to 1970.
Ralph married Sharon Schenk in 1966. He became the proud father of two sons, Andrew in 1969; and David in 1971. Although he and Sharon divorced later, they have remained close friends.
Ralph married Bonnie Schilling Evans in 1987, and became stepfather to her daughter, Heather. Ralph and Bonnie enjoyed 32 happy years of marriage together.
Ralph was account and budget supervisor at the County of La Crosse, followed by 25 years as payroll manager at Dairyland Power, retiring from there in 2005. He looked forward to going to work Monday morning.
Ralph also operated his own tax and accounting business. He was a man of his word, who treated people with integrity and respect.
A quiet man, Ralph’s relationship with Jesus positively impacted all aspects of his life, including his family, friendships, career, and service to others. He was involved in the ministry of Olivet Beacon of Light Lutheran Church in La Crosse; and an active member of Gideon’s International, serving as a treasurer for many years.
Ralph was a kind and loyal man who valued spending time with friends and studying the Word of the Lord. He enjoyed his frequent visits with his cherished sister, Jan.
Ralph also had a passion for biking, reading, fishing, drawing, and board games, especially Scrabble. He liked spending time getting coffee at McDonald’s, or browsing at Barnes and Noble.
As a young boy, Ralph developed a life-long love of biking. The first time he rode a recumbent bike in his 60s, he discovered a source of joy that lasted the rest of his life.
Ralph is survived by his beloved wife, Bonnie Jean Schilling Koglin; his sister, Janice (Ronald) Oestreich; sons Andrew and David Koglin; stepdaughter Heather (Ronald) Nokken; grandchildren Megan (Craig) Wurzel, and Rachel, Sarah, Jesse, Jeremy, and Chris Nokken; great-granddaughter Emma Wurzel; nieces Elizabeth (Todd) Snyder and Rebecca (Tim) Keightley; a great niece, Lindsey (Chad and son Conor) Reinhard; his close friend, Sharon Koglin; and a large extended family.
