Arthur “Art” Thomas Marketon, age 85, of Howard Lake, passed away Monday, Dec. 7, 2020.
He was born May 3, 1935, in Middleville Township, the son of Thomas and Agnes (Baldy) Marketon.
Art attended Meister Country School, and graduated from Howard Lake High School. He was a founding member of the Waverly Gun Club.
Art was a hard worker and loved farming all his life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing especially ice fishing, and trap shooting.
Art loved his family, and his grandchildren were the joy of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Agnes Marketon; his first wife, Barbara (Kasper) Marketon; brother, Edward (Florence) Marketon; sisters, Margaret Thiemann, Martha (Larry) Clark; father-in-law and mother in-law, Donald and Emma Werner; and siblings-in-law, Jacquelyn Marketon, Frank Wood, and Carol Werner.
Art is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jolene (Werner) Marketon; sons, Douglas Marketon, David (Charity) Marketon; daughter, Anne (Jason) Uecker; grandchildren, Melissa, Christopher, Casey, Joshua, Georgyanna, Destiny, Courtney, Rebecca, Jacob; great-grandchildren, Vanessa and Oliver; siblings, Walter Marketon, Louis Marketon, Helen (Robert) Baumann, Rosella Milewski; siblings-in-law, Jerry Thiemann, Dan Werner, Mary Wood, Karen (Dean) Breczinski; and many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
A private family service will take place.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Art’s name are preferred to the WCCA food shelf of Wright County, Howard Lake Fire Department, or donor’s choice.
