Pauline Marie Nelson, age 91, of Dassel, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2020.
Pauline was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was born in Minneapolis, Dec. 18, 1928, to Edward and Astra Johnson. She graduated Minneapolis South High School and began college in the Twin City area.
Pauline married Eldon, Sept. 18, 1954. Eldon and Pauline were blessed with four children: Barb in 1956, twins, Gordon and John in 1957, and Dan in 1962.
She faithfully taught Sunday school for more than 40 years at Dassel Covenant Church. Pauline worked as a sales clerk for Holm Brothers Hardware/Hansen Hardware for more than 30 years, and volunteered at Meeker County Food Shelf for another 15 years, where she made several lifetime friends.
At the age of 66, Pauline returned to college at North Central Bible College and completed her bachelor of arts in Christian education. She actively lived out her deep, unwavering faith through personal Bible study, teaching Sunday School, and offering discipleship to others.
Pauline’s husband, Eldon, passed away in 2008. She moved into Dassel Lakeside Apartments with back ailments and began walking for rehabilitation. She loved to walk all over the Lakeside campus. Her beautiful eyes lit up the most when talking about her family and her Lord.
Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three brothers.
She is survived by her children, Barb (Bruce) Nordeen, Gordy (Debbie), John, and Dan (Nancy); grandchildren, Joe, Josh, Annie, Andy, Jessie, Nolan, Cassie, Mandy, Katie, Desi, Gabbie, and Libby, and many great-grandchildren.
A funeral service took place Saturday, Aug. 22, at 2 p.m. at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Dassel, with the Rev. Darren Olson officiating. Interment took place at the Dassel Community Cemetery following the service. Visitation was one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to be given to the Dassel Food Shelf. Please designate: in memory of Pauline M. Nelson.
