Joan M. Paul, age 81, of Lester Prairie, passed away Friday, Oct. 16, 2020, at Glencoe Regional Health in Glencoe.
Joan Marilyn (Tangney) Paul was born May 18, 1939, to Walter and Julia Tangney at St. Joseph’s Hospital in St. Paul. She was an only child.
Joan was baptized Aug. 7, 1939, by Rev. Russell Anderson, and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in South St. Paul, April 6, 1952, by Rev. A.G. Eberhart. She later reaffirmed her faith into the Communicant membership at Central Presbyterian Church in St. Paul.
Joan graduated from South St. Paul High School. She furthered her education by attending beauty school, and later business school. She worked as a secretary at a manufacturing business.
Joan was united in marriage to Gilbert Paul April 27, 1979, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie by the Rev. Larry Houg. They made their home in Lester Prairie.
Joan purchased a coffee and gift shop in Silver Lake, and operated it for 7 1⁄2 years. She enjoyed clipping coupons, doing crossword puzzles, reading, and feeding stray animals.
Joan moved to Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson December, 2016, where she made her home until the time of her death.
She passed away at the age of 81 years, 4 months, and 30 days.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Paul; parents, Walter and Julia Tangney; and parents-in-law, John and Alvina Paul.
A visitation took place Monday, Oct. 19 from 3 to 4 p.m. at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted.
A graveside service took place at 4 p.m. at Winsted Public Cemetery. Pastor Dave Hormann officiated.
