Barbara Jean Rarer, the daughter of Walter and Elaine (Knutson) Rarer, was born Oct. 17, 1962, in Le Sueur, MN. Barb attended Dassel-Cokato High School, where she graduated in 1980.
Barb served her country for several years in the United States Navy as a Navy Seabee, and was a heavy equipment operator and mechanic.
She was a free spirit who loved to spend time traveling in her camper, and seeing the country. She would come to Dassel to spend time with her mother during the summer and travel the country, wherever the spirit took her during the winter.
Barb had great respect for the Native American life, and enjoyed Native American art. She was an avid woodworker, and loved to tinker and learn how everything would run.
She loved nature, camping, fishing, and spending time with her family for holidays. Her family was of great importance in her life; her son, mother, sister, and other relatives meant the world to her.
Barb had the wonderful opportunity to reconnect with her biological daughter in 2012.
She is survived by her son, Michael Rarer, of St. Cloud; daughter, Mackenzie Beckman of Corona, SD; mother, Elaine Rarer of Dassel; father, Walter (Cathie) Rarer of Bullhead City, AZ, sister, Sandra (Tim) Benoit of Dassel; nieces and nephews, Nicole (Randy) Moe, Cory Brandel, Marcus (Amy) Benoit, Melissa (Trevor) Goulet, and Amanda Benoit; great-nieces and great-nephews, Cain Savoie, Caleb Savoie, Clara Brandel, Chase Brandel, Jeff Moe, Clay Moe, Brooke Goulet, Regan Goulet, and Taylor Goulet.
Barbara was preceded in death by her siblings, Dawn Rarer, and Yvonne Brandel.
