MaryAnn (Smith) Rotzien, age 74, of Dassel, died Monday, Aug. 31, 2020, at her home.
MaryAnn, the daughter of Harold and Ethel (Tuman) Smith, was born April 8, 1946, in Houston, MN.
She grew up in the Ellsworth area, and was baptized and later confirmed at St. Peters Evangelical Lutheran Church in rural Darwin. In 1964, MaryAnn graduated from Litchfield High School.
MaryAnn was united in marriage to Gary Rotzien June 6, 1964, at St. Peters Evangelical Lutheran Church in rural Darwin. Together, they made their home in rural Dassel, on the shore of Little Wolfe Lake.
MaryAnn did bookwork for several businesses, and sold Avon and Tupperware. She was a talented wedding cake baker, having made several wedding cakes for brides over the years.
MaryAnn loved her family deeply, she was proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She loved playing games and solving puzzles, especially Sudoku puzzles. MaryAnn was a talented cook and baker. She loved to have all her family over for holidays and special events. She will be missed by her family and her many friends.
MaryAnn is survived by her husband, Gary Rotzien, of Dassel; Tammy (Joseph) Jorgensen of Dassel; David Rotzien of Darwin; and Chuck (Stacy) Rotzien of Darwin; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Rotzien; her parents, Harold and Ethel Smith; and her biological mother, Mildred Gehring.
An interment took place at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, at the Ellsworth Cemetery, rural Darwin, with the Rev. Paul Settergren officiating.
The Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel was in charge of the arrangements.
