Neal Edward Sandstede, age 78, of Centennial, CO, formerly of Dassel, passed away peacefully in his sleep Monday, March 30, 2020.
Neal was born May 23, 1941, in Sioux Falls, SD. He spent his formative years in Beaver Creek, MN, before moving with his family to Dassel, where he graduated high school.
During university, he enlisted in the Army and served in Korea.
He was a graduate of the University of Minnesota with a degree in civil engineering, and worked as a civil engineer for a variety of specialized projects.
Neal’s interests were many. He was an extremely accomplished hunter, an avid aviator, a beloved father, grandfather, sibling, and friend, who loved to read and learn new things. He enjoyed camping with his family in the Rocky Mountains, as well as scuba diving and automotive repair.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Eleanor (Johnson) Sandstede; and his brother, John Sandstede.
Neal is survived by his siblings, Robert Sandstede and Georgia Rettman; his four daughters: Dana Koletar, Jennifer Sandstede, Kathryn Rawling, and Susie Jones; three grandchildren; and former-wife, Janice Prestidge.
Memorial services took place Saturday, April 4 at 10 a.m. at the Olinger Hampton Mortuary in Colorado, with virtual attendance offered for friends and relatives. Private interment at the Dassel Community Cemetery.
The Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel handled interment arrangements.
