Harvey LeRoy Dalbec, 86, of Maple Plain, MN passed away peacefully Thursday, July 15, 2021 at home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Oct. 25, 1934, in Franklin Township (Delano) to Henry and Ida (Barfnecht) Dalbec.
He was baptized Nov. 21, 1934, and confirmed March 21, 1948 by Pastor Bruns at Mt. Olive Church in Delano.
Harvey attended school in Delano. He helped on the family farm and joined the Army Reserves in his early 20s, receiving an honorable discharge in 1963.
He eventually made his career as a master plumber, working on many large commercial jobs as a foreman and supervisor.
Harvey retired April 1, 2000, and remained an active union member, receiving a 60 year membership certificate from the Plumbers United Association.
He was united in marriage to Pat Krienke at Mt. Olive in Delano July 13, 1957. They recently had their 64th wedding anniversary.
They raised four children, Cindy, Lori, Terry (Woody) and Dean, who gave them 15 grandchildren, and three great grandchildren whom he was so proud of and loved with all his heart.
Harvey enjoyed traveling with his wife, Pat, and children to Colorado, Florida, Montana, Wyoming, and many other states.
After raising four children, Harvey and Pat continued to travel, enjoying Alaska, Hawaii, New Zealand, Australia, Norway, Germany, Switzerland, Greece, and many other destinations.
In his spare time, Harvey enjoyed hobby farming and auctions.
He loved life and engaging in conversation with any person he came in contact with, whether he knew them or not.
Harvey had a great sense of humor, was a practical joker, hard worker, good provider, and a man of strong faith in God.
Anyone who spent time with him knew he had a kind and giving heart, a wonderful smile, and brought fun and laughter to life.
Harvey is survived by his loving, supportive, and compassionate wife of 64 years, Pat Dalbec; children: Cindy Doop, Lori Vought, Terry (Woody) Dalbec, and Dean Dalbec; 14 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; sister Joyce Anderson, and brother Larry Dalbec.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry (Hank) and Ida Dalbec; brothers Gordon, Kenneth, LeRoy, Bobby, and sister Judy Schliinz.
Memorial services will take place at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, at Cross Lutheran Church 6001 Main St. in Rockford, followed by a luncheon.
A gathering of family and friends will take place Wednesday at the church from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service.
