John Erickson, 88

John Andrew Erickson, age 88, of Edina, MN (formerly of Bloomington, MN), passed away Monday, Nov. 15, 2021.

A holiday “Jubilation of Life” will take place at St Luke’s Lutheran Church, 1701 W. Old Shakopee Rd., Bloomington, MN 55431, Friday, Dec. 10, 2021.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. with a service at 11 a.m. Lunch will follow in the church fellowship hall.

Private interment to follow at a later date.

The family asks that you wear holiday colors/attire in memory of John’s love of Christmas.

In lieu of flowers, feel free to contribute to the American Cancer Society, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospitals, or the Twin Cities Gay Men’s Chorus.

John was born in Stockholm Township and was baptized and confirmed at Stockholm Lutheran Church.

He graduated from Cokato High School in May 1951, and moved to Minneapolis, MN in 1952.

John married Barbara Cronberg April 12, 1957, at Central Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, and together they raised their family in Bloomington.

John retired from the US Department of Agriculture in 1996, and he and Barbara enjoyed their retirement spending winters at their Arizona home and summers at their lake place and Bloomington home.

Loved ones who will dearly miss John until they meet again are his wife of 64.5 years, Barbara; his sons, Tim, Tom (Laura), and Terry; his grandchildren, Brittany (Clare), Adam (Kirsten) and Jenny; his seven great-grandchildren, as well as an extended family and an abundance of friends.

Loved ones who cleared the path for John are his parents, Otto and Ruby Erickson; sisters, Dorothy (Greeley), Florence (Anderson); brothers, Roger, and Charles.
