Gene Hennessey, 81

Gene James Hennessey, age 81, of Winsted, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2021, at his residence.

He was born May 1, 1940, in Cosmos, MN, the son of Raymond and Irene (Hopmann) Hennessey.

Gene J. Hennessey and Darlene M. Stuber were joined in holy marriage June 3, 1961, at Grace Lutheran Church in Brownton. God blessed their marriage with three children.

He was formerly employed at Dura Supreme, and was herdsman for many years, as well as running his own farm for years. Gene was known to many people as a fun-maker.

Gene was very much a family man.

He enjoyed polka music, fishing, dancing, playing cards, baking, cooking, and was a true handyman.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Darlene M. Hennessey; children, Michael (Sandra) Hennessey, Mark Hennessey, Lisa (John) Schlechter; grandchildren, Corey, Eric, Melissa, Heather (John), Nick (Tina), Mathew (Caitie), Lindsay and Barbie (Kevin); great-grandchildren, Bentley, Henry, Vanessa, Paige, and Shelby; siblings, Lee (Marlys) Hennessey, Gerald (Carol) Hennessey, Dean Hennessey and Lorraine Anderson; stepbrother, Bill (Mary Ann) Renstrom; many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert, Delbert, and Herb Hennessey; sisters, Darlene Markgraf, Marlys Rosenau, and Donna Stueber.

A prayer service for Gene Hennessey took place Saturday, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. at The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted. Pastor Dean Brown officiated.

A visitation took place Saturday, Nov. 20 at the funeral home from 3 to 7 p.m.

Private inurment took place at Oak Grove Cemetery in Brownton.
