Lynn M. Hollaran Obituary – 1/3/2021


A Celebration of Life for Lynn Hollaran will take place at the Mushroom Building in Dassel, on Saturday June 26, at 11 a.m.

Mayor Ron Hungerford will speak on behalf of the City of Dassel, as she was a member of the city council.

A light lunch will be served. All are welcome.

Lynn Marie Hollaran, 78, of Dassel, passed away peacefully at her residence with her family and her pets by her bedside Sunday, Jan. 3, 2021.

A memorial service/celebration of life is planned for summer 2021 in Dassel.

Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel is serving the family.

Lynn Marie Hollaran, the daughter of William and Joan (Hains) Kruschka, was born Aug. 8, 1942, in Neptune City, Asbury Park, NJ. Her family lived in several cities as a child.

Lynn attended Manistique High School in Manistique, MI, and graduated from Neenah High School, in Neenah, WI. She continued her education by attending Oshkosh State Teachers College and Alverno College in Milwaukee, WI.

Lynn was employed by the United States Federal Government Social Security Administration as a manager/claims representative for over 40 years. Because of her skills and abilities, Lynn worked in multiple offices across the country. Lynn loved her job, and served with distinction and honor.

Civic duties were paramount to her, including love of community and political involvement. These were an ongoing focus throughout her life.

She immediately loved the Dassel community, and the community also embraced her. She was elected to the Dassel City Council, and always tried to fight for what she thought was fair and right for the citizens of her community.

Lynn was artistic, she enjoyed spending time drawing, painting, decorating, and playing the piano. She loved to spend time with her family and friends. Lynn’s grandsons were an important part of her life, and she had a special relationship with each of them.

Her front lawn was the gathering place for the local Red Rooster parade and many barbeques. She was fond of entertaining for holidays and special events.

She was an avid traveler, who always loved to explore new places and experience new adventures. Family, friends and neighbors. and her pets, including Babe the Wonder Dog, Coco Marie, and her kitties gave her great joy. She will be missed by her many friends, neighbors, and her loving family.

Lynn is survived by her daughters, Susan (John) Stejskal of Annandale, MN, Robin (Erik) Elias of Minnesota; three grandchildren, Jacob Stejskal, Charles Stejskal, and Jack Elias; siblings, Philip (Barb) Kruschka of Livonia, MI, Betsy Kruschka of East Haven, CT, and Susan (Andy) Zygmunt of Marion, CT, and her former spouses, Arnold Petersen, James Baumann, and Kevin Hollaran.

She was preceded in death by her son, Tad (Arnold) Petersen; her parents, William and Joan Kruschka; her siblings, Billy (William) Kruschka, Joan Kruschka, and Robin Kruschka; and her many pets.

Lynn lived an amazing life, all the while overcoming significant physical limitations. The family is grateful for neighbors and friends and great communities that supported her ability to maintain her fierce independence.
