Orville A. Horsch, 91

Orville Arthur Horsch, age 91, of rural Waverly, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2021, at Lake Ridge Care Center in Buffalo.

He was born April 14, 1929, in Howard Lake, the son of Arthur and Elsie (Schmieg) Horsch.

Orville A. Horsch and Carol H. Duske were joined in holy marriage at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Montrose, Aug. 28, 1951. Orville and Carol would have celebrated 70 years of marriage this August.

Orville was employed as a janitor for over 19 years at the Montrose Elementary School and Buffalo Junior High School.

He enjoyed farming, mowing his lawn, sawing wood, dancing, and was a collector of Oliver model tractors.

Orville was a faithful member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Montrose. He was the past president of the congregation, trustee, money counter, taught Sunday school, and was a choir member.

He is survived by his loving wife: Carol H. Horsch; children: Deborah Ann Horsch, and Paul Orville (Chersti) Horsch; grandchildren: Austin P. Horsch, Gavin C. Horsch, Hataleen Martinson, Ronisha Hawkins, and Bird Hawkins; other relatives and friends.

Orville was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Elsie Horsch; and by two brothers, Jerome and Virgil Horsch.

A private family funeral service took place Saturday, Feb. 20 at 2 p.m. at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Montrose. Pastor James Grabitske officiateed, with organist Carol Wendorff for the funeral service. Inurnment was at St. Paul’s Cemetery.

A visitation took place Friday, Feb. 19 at the church from 4 to 8 p.m.

Casket Bearers were Scott Duske, Greg Duske, Joe Mauk, Doug Duske, Dale Bauman, and Garret Duske.
