Lonnie Lenzen, 72

Lonnie Arthur Lenzen, 72, of Red Oak, TX peacefully passed away Sunday, Sept. 5, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.

Lonnie was born Aug. 23, 1949 in Watertown, Minnesota, the “favorite” son of Art and Alice Lenzen.

Lonnie grew up the only son of Art and Alice Lenzen, emulating his hardworking father by working for his family’s feed store in Hollywood Township.

After graduating from Mayer Lutheran High School he enlisted in the US Army Reserves.

Upon returning home, Lonnie soon developed a love for the open road, working as an independent owner operator.

He married the love of his life, Yolanda Radtke, in 1977, and they relocated to Texas.

Together they were able to create a successful company, Lenzen Leasing, in Red Oak, TX.

After retiring his trucking company, Lonnie and Lanny continued to work closely. Together they traveled the country, and developed a passion in antiques.

Their love of pursued “junking” developed into a lucrative career, dealing one of a kind treasures, and eventually crafting their own brand of industrial metal top custom tables.

Throughout these years they met so many wonderful people who became life long friends. Lonnie and Lanny always loved visiting their hometowns in Minnesota during the summer months.

After retirement from the antique business, they enjoyed their summer months spent with family at their cabin on Diamond Lake in Atwater.

With Lonnie’s strong and stubborn mind set, he was able to courageously battle cancer for 12 years. We are sad for our loss, but rejoice that his work on earth is done, and he has received the blessings of God’s love.

He was an amazing husband, father, friend, and brother, and will remain in our hearts forever.

Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents, Art and Alice Lenzen, his brother-in-law Gary Wurdell, brother-in-law, Guyle Corley, and his niece, Angela Tesch.

Lonnie is survived by his loving wife, Yolanda Lenzen; his children and their spouses: Jonathon and Sylvie Lenzen of Hudson, WI, Nicole George of Memphis, TN, and Danielle and Meredith Cullen of Houston, TX; grandchildren: Mira and Maxwell Lenzen, Emily and Carson George, and Lauren and Luke Cullen; sisters Sue (Curtis) Hart of New Germany, Shirley Wurdell of Hutchinson, Sandra Lenzen of Colorado Springs, CO, Lori Corley of Canyon, TX, and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will take place Saturday, Sept. 11, at 11 a.m. at Boze Mitchell McKibbin Funeral Home in Waxahachie, TX, with chaplain Franklin D. Reagan officiating. The family plans to host a Celebration of Life at a later date in Minnesota.
