Leona Mathilda Magner, age 88, of Buffalo, formerly of Delano, passed away Friday, Nov. 5, 2021.
A Mass of Christian burial took place at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9 at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church, St. Peter campus, in Delano.
Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, and continued Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the Mass, all in Martha’s Hall of St. Peter campus.
Interment was in St. Joseph Cemetery in Delano. Masks were requested and appreciated.
Arrangements are by the Iten Funeral Home in Delano.
She was born April 6, 1933, in Albany, MN, the daughter of Henry and Margaret (Keppers) Bloch.
Leona was united in marriage to John F. Magner Aug. 29, 1959, at Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Albany, MN. They made their home in Delano, where they raised their nine children.
Leona enjoyed doing puzzles, painting wooden toys, sewing quilts, and baking. She worked at the Delano Healthcare Center for 25 years as a cook in the kitchen. She was also a daycare provider. She was a woman of great faith, a member of the Rosary Society, and Ladies Auxillary.
Leona was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents, Henry and Margaret Bloch; step mother, Christine (Douvier) Bloch; siblings, Richard Bloch, Raphael Bloch, Sylvester (Yvette) Bloch, Lawrence (Dorothy) Bloch, Sr. Cordelia, OSF, Hildegard Wiechmann, Dorothy (Paul) Boecker, Gilbert Bloch, and Leroy Bloch; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, William “Bill” Fernandez, Rita (Joe) Ryan, Helen (Pete) Campbell, Mary (Jim) Nolan, and Michael (Bud) Magner.
She is survived by her children, Brian Magner, Marlene Magner, Mark Magner (Jerry Neronsky), Steven Magner, Father Kevin Magner, John (Tracy) Magner, Kim Magner (Scott Rosenthal), Kelly (Brian) Harstad, Kyle Magner; grandchildren, Maya Carson, Gavin Carson, Collin (Tina) Magner, Jack Magner, Willie Magner; siblings, Sr. Loretta, OSF, Bea (Larry) Britz, Don (Bea) Bloch, Tex (Carol) Bloch, Julie Fernandez, Janie (Manny) Phillip, Eileen (Jim) Dwyer, Delores Bloch; sisters-in-law, Donna Bloch, Fran Magner; brother-in-law, Alphonse (Al) Wiechmann; as well as many other family members.
