Russell Stanford “Stan” Nyquist, PhD, age 85, of Wayzata, MN, formerly of Cokato, passed away Feb. 1, 2021.

A virtual memorial service by the Hennepin Avenue Methodist Church will take place Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021. The service will be posted to his obituary page by 5 p.m. Feb. 27, at www.gearty-delmore.com.

Russell was born in Cokato, MN, to Russell Siegfred Nyquist and Arlene Titrud Nyquist.

Stan led an interesting career, most recently as the director of the MBA program at St. Thomas University in St. Paul, MN, from which he retired in 2006. Prior to St. Thomas he was CEO of Photo Systems, Inc in Dexter, MI. Before that, he began his career as an assistant professor in mechanical engineering at the University of Minnesota.

Over 20 years ago, he and Margie bought a lake house, so the family would have a gathering spot. It was one of Stan’s favorite places to be. Going to the lake every year quickly became an annual family tradition, where many strong relationships were forged.

Stan approached life with an everlasting sense of optimism. He had a love of fun, and a quick sense of humor. He lived with an appreciation for everyday experiences and deeply valued time with family. He will be missed.

Stan was a beloved spouse, father, grandfather, and friend to all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and daughter, Jan Elizabeth Nyquist.

He is survived by wife, Marjorie Louise Nyquist; sons, Scott (Judy), Paul (Christina), Mark (Amy); and 10 grandchildren, Christopher Harding, Bryan Harding, Sarah Nyquist, Jacob Nyquist, Jessica Nyquist, Tessa Nyquist, Lindsay Nyquist, Matthew Nyquist, Zachary Nyquist, and Annika Nyquist.
