James Constenius Obituary – 2/23/2022


James Patrick Constenius, age 66, 2022 of Dassel, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, at the Meeker Hospital in Litchfield.

A memorial service will take place at the Kingston Apostolic Lutheran Church Monday, March 21 at 11 a.m., with Pastor Bob Tumberg and Pastor Keith Carlson officiating.

Interment of the urn will be at the Cokato Finnish Cemetery in Cokato in the spring.

There will be a one-hour time to gather before the service at the Kingston Apostolic Lutheran Church Monday, March 21.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are preferred.

James Patrick Constenius, the son of William and Hilma (Kumala) Constenius, was born March 17, 1955, in Cokato. James grew up in Cokato and graduated from the Dassel–Cokato High School in 1973. James was baptized at Wolf Lake, MN.

James was united in marriage Aug. 4, 1979, to Cheryl Winterowd at the First Presbyterian Church in Howard Lake. Together, they made their home in Dassel following their marriage.

James was employed at Industrial Louvers in Delano for 39.5 years. He loved his job, and was proud of the years of hard work at a great company.

James loved to spend time with his family. His wife, kids, and grandchildren were the light of his life. He enjoyed spending time wood working and made a bed for his granddaughter, the deck, and a bench at his home, along with many other items around the home.

He was a social person who often could be found having a conversation with family and friends. He loved the holidays and special events. He will be missed deeply by his family and his many friends.

He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Constenius of Dassel; children, David Constenius of Dassel, Amanda Constenius and her fiancé, Tyler Paumen of Maple Lake; five grandchildren, Kaylee Constenius, Elizabeth Constenius, Chloe Paumen, Tanner Paumen, and Connor Paumen;  siblings, William Constenius of Dassel, Paul Constenius of Minneapolis, and Marilyn Sutter of Minneapolis; nephews, Tom Constenius, Bruce Constenius; niece, Karen (Pete) Lehto; nephew, Bryan Edberg; great nephews, Brian (Brook) Josephson, Warren (Tina) Josephson, Andrew Josephson, Dan (Brandy Christensen ) Josephson, and Aaron Josephson; and sister-in-law, Wendy Haglund.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Hilma Constenius; son, Patrick; and siblings, Kenneth Constenius, Gary Constenius, and Dorothy Constenius; and mother-in-law, Delores Dyer.
