John “Jack” Gordon Gardner, 87, of Buffalo, MN, formerly of Delano, MN, passed away Thursday, Aug. 25, 2022.
He was born March 18, 1935, to Chester and Gertrude (Luffey) Gardner in Franklin Township, MN.
Jack was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He made his career as a machinist.
He was united in marriage to Helen Julie Strey July 25, 1953, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Delano, and to this union, six children were blessed.
Jack had a love for farming in his younger years. However, he filled his time as an adult with family obligations and spending time with his family.
Jack was preceded in death by his grandson, Kyle McClellan; parents, Chester and Gertrude Gardner; siblings, Harold Gardner, Kenneth Gardner, and Colleen DeMarais; sister-in-law, Irene Gardner; and brother-in-law, Howard “Bud” DeMarais.
He is survived by his loving wife, Helen of 69 years; children, Cindy (James) Hughes, Terry Gardner (Kathy DiNio), Marijo Kunkel, Jeanne McClellan, William (Dawn) Gardner, and Mike (Karen) Gardner; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Mary Gardner, and JoAnn Strey; and son-in-law and friend of the family Fred McClellan.
Mass of Christian Burial took place Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2022, at 11 a.m. at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church, St. Peter’s campus, Delano, MN. Visitation took place Tuesday morning from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the Iten Funeral Home in Delano before leaving for Mass.
Interment was in the Calvary Cemetery in Delano.
