Judith Brinkmann, 81

Judith Della (Bengtson) Brinkmann, 81, of Seattle, WA, died peacefully in Seattle Friday, May 12, 2023, after struggling to recover from hip replacement surgery three weeks before.

Judith Della (Bengtson) Brinkmann, also known as Judy, was born in Litchfield, MN, March 12, 1942, to Harry and Della (Nelson) Bengtson and grew up in Dassel, MN.

Judy was a gifted teacher of young children during her long career in private and public schools.

She married George Brinkmann Oct. 25, 1969, in the Dassel Covenant Church in Dassel.

Upon his release from active duty in the US Air Force in 1972, they moved to Illinois, living in Peoria, IL, and Rockford, IL, before finally settling in Monmouth, IL, for the next 36 years.

Judy taught early elementary and pre-kindergarten children in a nearby rural public school district until she retired in 2011. The couple moved to Seattle in 2013 to be close to their daughter and newborn grandson.

Judy lived a full life with cancer for seven years, active in her church and PEO, pursuing her hobbies, enjoying her grandchildren, and nurturing old and new friendships.

Judy was a committed Christian, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, gifted teacher, and loyal friend.

She is survived by her husband, George; her son, Benjamin (Debra); her daughter, Anna; her grandchildren Paul, Gabriella, Katrina, and Charlie; and her brother, Bruce (Ruth).

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A live-streamed memorial service will take place Saturday, June 24, 2023, at 1 p.m. (3 p.m. Central time) at the First Covenant Church, Seattle, at 400 E Pike St, Seattle.

A second memorial and committal service will take place Sunday, July 2, 2023, at 2 p.m. at the Dassel Covenant Church in Dassel.

A memorial service at Galesburg Covenant Church, Galesburg, IL, will be scheduled at a later date.
