John Guenigsman, 94

John Frank Guenigsman, 94, of Winsted, MN, formerly of Lester Prairie, MN, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family Sunday, April 23, 2023.

He was born March 23, 1929, in Victor Township, Wright County, MN, the son of Frank and Margaret (Kieser) Guennigsmann.

He honorably served his country in the United States Army in the Korean War.

John F. Guenigsman and Lavonne C. Briesemeister were joined in holy marriage at the Holy Trinity Rectory April 14, 1956.

John farmed and worked at Millerbernd’s for 34 years.

He was a lifelong member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted and was a longtime usher.

John also belonged to American Legion Post 407 in Winsted and to the Catholic Order of Foresters.

John is survived by his loving wife, Lavonne C. Guenigsman; children, Paul (Kristine) Guenigsman, Randy Guenigsman, Kathy Zerwas, and Dale (Barb) Guenigsman; son-in-law, Mark Alger; grandchildren, Kim (Brandon) Kutz, Christy (Joel) Karels, Jonathan Zerwas (Amanda Kerber), Jennifer Deidrick (Josh Burkett), Courtney (Phillip) Rogosienski, Alyssa (Joe) Borders, Joe Deidrick, Abby (Jesse) Quaas, Lydia Guenigsman, Andrew Guenigsman, Braxton Guenigsman, Amber (Kenneth) Van Den Top, and Grant Geerdes; 23 great-grandchildren; a step great-granddaughter, a step great, great-granddaughter; siblings, Clifford (Leana) Guenningsmann, Marcel (Karen) Guennigsmann, Ralph Guenningsmann, Elmeriana Fautsch, and Marlys Briesemeister; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends.

John is preceded in death by an infant daughter; a daughter, Mary Kay Alger; son-in-law, Larry Zerwas; godson, David Guenigsman; his parents; and by seven siblings, Leonard, Marvin, Clyde, Bill, Leona Helmbrecht, Luella Guennigsmann, and Verdella Sterner.

A Mass of Christian burial for John Guenigsman will take place Monday, May 1, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted.   Father Matt Wiering will be the celebrant.

Interment with military rites will follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery.

A visitation will take place Monday, May 1, two hours prior to services, all at the church.

Honorary casket bearers are Andrew and Braxton Guenigsman and Grant Geerdes.

Casket bearers will be Jonathan Zerwas, Joe Deidrick, Brandon Kutz, Joel Karels, Joe Borders, Todd Guenigsman, Jesse Quaas, and Phillip Rogosienski.
