Audrey Helen Johnson, 91, of Cokato, MN, passed away peacefully Monday, May 1, 2023, at the Cokato Manor.
A funeral service took place Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at 11 a.m. at the Stockholm Lutheran Church in rural Cokato, with Rev. Mark Little officiating. The interment of the urn took place following the service at the Stockholm Lutheran Church Cemetery.
A time to gather with the family took place one hour prior to the service at the Stockholm Lutheran Church in rural Cokato.
The Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel, MN, is in charge of the memorial service arrangements.
She is the daughter of Frank and Augusta (Wojohn) Luthens and was born Feb. 28, 1932, in Cedar Mills Township, Litchfield, MN.
Audrey was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Cedar Mills, MN, where she was baptized and confirmed.
Audrey attended grade school at District 55 and St. John’s Church in Cedar Mills.
Audrey was united in marriage March 1, 1952, to Lloyd Johnson at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cedar Mills. After marriage, she became a member of the Stockholm Lutheran Church.
Together, they made their home on their family farm in Stockholm Township, Cokato, where they raised two sons, Kevin and Brian. In 1999, they moved off their family farm to Dassel. After moving to Dassel, they spent many winters living in Apache Junction, AZ, where they enjoyed playing cards and spending time with friends.
Audrey enjoyed going to their cabin on Nelson Lake in Jenkins, MN, where she spent many days fishing from the dock with her grandchildren. She was always cheering on her sons and grandchildren during multiple sporting events. She was also a big fan of the Vikings and Twins, along with camping and playing cards with her local friends.
Audrey is survived by her sons, Kevin (Beth Wanha) Johnson, and Brian (Shannon) Johnson, all of Stockholm, MN; 10 grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Tucker) Forstie, Triada and Tiarra Lundeen, Erin (Brad) Halonen, Jesse (Brittany) Decker, Cole (Jessica) Johnson, Mitch (Stephanie Korbel) Johnson, Matt, Jake, and Emily Johnson, and eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Adeline Zummach and Arlene Tewes, both of Hutchinson, MN; and two sister-in laws, Lorayne LeSarge of Tuscan, AZ, and Ruth Luthens of Hutchinson.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Johnson; parents, Frank and Augusta Luthens; and three brothers, Arnold, Alvin, and Arvid Luthens, along with other relatives and friends.
