Darlene Robare, 91

Darlene Beverly Robare, 91, of Bothell, WA, died Sunday, Feb. 12, 2023, at the Madison House in Kirkland, WA.

A funeral service will take place Thursday, March 9, 2023, at 11 a.m. at the Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Dassel, MN, with Rev. Janine Olson officiating. The interment will take place following the service at Our Savior’s Cemetery in French Lake, MN.

There will be a one-hour visitation prior to the service Thursday, March 9, at the Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Dassel.

The Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel is in charge of the funeral arrangements

Darlene Robare, the daughter of William and Ruth (Olson) Licht, was born Sept. 11, 1931, in Monroe, SD.

Darlene grew up in Minneapolis, MN, where she was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

Darlene attended and graduated from high school at West High in Minneapolis in 1949.

Darlene was united in marriage to David Robare in Seattle, WA.

Together, they made their home in the Bothell area. She was employed at Seafirst Mortgages as an executive secretary.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and crocheting. She had crocheted the christening gowns for her granddaughters.

She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh. She enjoyed playing cards, cribbage, bingo, and listening to music.

Beverly collected salt and pepper shakers, and traveled to many salt and pepper shaker collector conventions. She would often stop and visit with family and friends as she drove to the conventions.

Darlene is survived by her children, Karen (Jim Herda) Schmiesing of Kingston, MN, Kim Ellin of Concrete, WA, Robert Hansch of Hayward, WI, and Sunny (Gregory) Bredice of Granada Hills, CA; 15 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, David Hansch; daughter, Tani Burgio; parents, William and Ruth Licht; a brother, Robert William Licht; and her husband, David Robare.
